Engineering Manager

Role Overview:

• Lead a core product engineering team at an early-stage govtech SaaS company building software for local governments.
• This is a hands-on, product-minded leadership role combining team development, technical direction, and direct engineering contribution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of 3 to 7 software engineers, supporting their growth and development.
• Partner with product and other teams to define and deliver the technical roadmap for core products.
• Guide architecture decisions to build scalable, performant, and maintainable systems.
• Promote strong practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and engineering ownership.

Requirements:

• 7 to 15 years of full-stack software engineering experience, including at least 1 year as a people manager or team lead.
• Proficiency with React, TypeScript, Python, and Kotlin or Go, along with experience using Java, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD.
• Experience in early-stage startups, customer-facing product development, and software for public-sector or government customers.
• Ability to work US time zones and travel up to 10% to meet customers.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base salary is $165,000 to $205,000 USD annually.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Location: Remote, based in Canada.
