Scope:

  • The Deputy Regional Field Director serves as the main national point of contact for Chapter teams, managing Chapter Directors and other staff to address climate disruption and protect communities.
  • This senior management role holds confidential matters with care, coaches leaders, and leverages resources to strengthen Chapters toward achieving the Sierra Club’s 2030 goals.

Job Activities:

  • Builds strong, high-functioning Chapters by supporting volunteer leadership and strategic planning, ensuring alignment with national priorities.
  • Manages and coaches Chapter Directors, providing guidance on governance and capacity strength.
  • Coordinates with state and regional teams to develop integrated plans, evaluates outcomes, and fosters collaboration across campaigns and partnerships.

Successful Candidate:

  • Brings experience as a senior manager in a grassroots advocacy organization, with a strong track record of leading teams toward shared goals and strategies.
  • Demonstrates skill in giving and receiving feedback, creating cultures of learning and mutual accountability, and navigating conflict in generative ways.
  • Committed to deepening understanding of systems of oppression and uplifting others through a constructive, can-do attitude and authentic kindness.
