Responsibilities:

  • Providing guidance on laws, regulations, and regulatory developments applicable to the healthcare industry.
  • Analyzing existing and newly enacted regulations as they relate to healthcare and privacy.
  • Reviewing and drafting regulatory summaries with the ability to distill complex information into actionable guidance applicable to the HIM industry.

Litigation Management:

  • Managing litigation matters, including coordinating with outside counsel, tracking case strategy, and supporting discovery and document preservation obligations.
  • Assessing and prioritizing incoming disputes, researching and applying governing law, and determining the proper course of action to resolve.
  • Drafting legal documents including memoranda, position papers, demand letters, and responsive summaries to third parties.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor Degree (JD) from accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law by the bar of at least one state.
  • 3+ years of experience in a multi-client law firm, health insurer, hospital, or similar organization.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare law; litigation experience required.
  • Experience with HIPAA, health information management, or privacy law preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communications skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and able to work independently and as a part of a team to prioritize responsibilities, take initiative and self-motivate/self-manage work and time.
