Lead and grow a high-performing team of 4-6 backend engineers. Contribute to architectural decisions and solve complex distributed systems challenges. Partner with teams across Canva to align roadmaps and accelerate delivery.

• Lead a team of mobile and frontend engineers to deliver hybrid development capabilities.
• Own and evolve the cross-platform architecture.
• Uplift developer experience through better tooling and testing pipelines.

• Leading a high-impact engineering team to develop features that empower marketers.
• Guiding technical strategy across both frontend and backend systems.
• Building a scalable, high-performing team of engineers by coaching, mentoring, and hiring talent.

• Lead the design and development of scalable, reliable backend services using modern frameworks and tools.
• Drive collaboration with PMs, designers, and fellow engineers to scope, define, and deliver impactful product features.
• Evolve and scale Canva’s backend architecture through thoughtful service design, system decomposition, and shared tooling.

Deeply understand the needs and workflows of consumers of Canva’s infrastructure platform. Write tools, services, configuration, and whatever else is required to ensure that our infrastructure platform can be both utilized and iterated on safely and quickly. Consult with internal users and other platform teams to bring clarity and alignment.

• Define the technical roadmap and architecture for API platforms as Canva evolves.
• Design and implement intricate aspects of the system, tackling complex technical challenges.
• Guide the implementation of major projects and mentor other engineers.

Design and implement key components within the core Native Video Engine, contributing to technical decisions that impact platform functionality. Develop rendering pipeline features, focusing on performance optimization, memory efficiency, and cross-platform compatibility. Support and collaborate with junior engineers, sharing knowledge in graphics programming, performance optimization, and system design.

This role is focused on discovering automation opportunities, building end-to-end solutions, leveraging and extending automation platforms, integrating AI capabilities, and writing scalable, maintainable code. You will also contribute to platform capabilities, collaborate across boundaries, document and share, and support and iterate.

Lead complex transformation initiatives by owning and driving high-impact, multi-system automation projects from discovery through production. Architect scalable solutions and build advanced platform capabilities. Lead the way in applying AI technologies to business automation and write production-grade code. Provide technical leadership, mentor and develop others, and consult with business partners. Establish engineering standards and drive operational excellence and contribute to recruiting.

Developing APIs and developer tools that transform how Canvanauts interact with, analyse, and visualise data. Driving continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and SRE practices to streamline deployment and enhance the reliability of analytics tools and infrastructure.
