As a Software Engineer at Mechanical Orchard, you will work as part of small, cross functional XP teams building production applications, pair program, apply and evolve XP engineering practices, operate and support production applications, help onboard developers, lead technical discovery efforts, learn about emerging technologies and agile practices, and foster the growth of the organization through mentorship.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and a passion for building resilient, scalable, cloud-based systems. You will be designing and developing server-side features in Elixir/Phoenix backed by PostgreSQL, deploying and managing cloud workloads in AWS with scalability and resilience in mind. You will also be participating in architecture discussions and solving complex engineering challenges.

We're looking for a Senior Elixir Software Engineer to contribute to our core web platform and supporting applications. You’ll work with Engineering, Product, and Design teammates to help ship new features and make our platform more engaging. As a senior engineer, you’ll be leading projects and providing guidance and mentorship to other engineers.

We are looking to expand the team and bring on a Senior Back End Software Engineer (Elixir) to build our technology platform to enable meaningful human connections between our Papas and Pals. We encourage all team members to give input on engineering and product challenges across the entire spectrum of solutions. We pride ourselves on our low ego and collaborative approach to problem solving.

You'll join a team of engineers across Frontend, Backend, SRE and QA, organized into cross-functional development teams assigned to specific verticals. This role involves working on building tools, APIs and integrations for one of Remote's products, using Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, React, and Next.js. The backend is built with Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database. GitLab is used as a version control tool and a CI/CD solution. Our applications are hosted on AWS.
