Assist in editing content from emails to investigations, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and nonpartisanship. Partner with authors to present complex ideas effectively, assist with fact-checking and proofreading, and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

You will independently manage Salon’s homepage, performing tasks such as optimizing, promoting and writing stories as needed. You will be required to respond swiftly and accurately to current events in the news, as well as serve as the point of contact for corrections, queries, updates and more. This position requires high editorial standards, strong news judgment and an understanding of Salon’s audience and voice.

As a leader for the expression of perspectives, you will set the editorial vision for the exchange of ideas. The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist who has experience editing senior writers with distinct voices. Responsibilities include assigning, editing and publishing stories and maintaining relationships with writers.

In this role, you will report on the burgeoning self-care and wellness industries, both inside and outside the medical establishment and public health bureaucracies. You will produce engaging, original reporting and insightful analysis on health and wellness questions and how they shape our society as you explore innovative solutions and demystify what works.
