Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Threat Hunting Researcher to join Unit 42's Managed Services group. Threat Hunters in Unit 42 play a critical role in safeguarding organizations against cyber threats by proactively searching for threats across multiple datasets. They are responsible for leading and conducting threat hunting activities related to malware, threat actor groups, and campaign activity. This position requires a cross–disciplinary approach that involves a deep understanding of cybersecurity, incident response, and threat intelligence.

As a Security Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain robust security solutions to safeguard company assets, with a strong emphasis on protecting customer data and ensuring infrastructure resilience. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to embed security best practices into their workflows, enabling informed decision-making. You will also develop incident detection and response capabilities, and lead security awareness training initiatives.

This hands-on role will support and strengthen our security posture through both proactive improvements and responsive actions. As a Security Generalist, you will monitor security systems, analyze events and logs, investigate and take necessary actions to resolve incidents. You will implement and maintain security tools, automations, and infrastructure—including our future SIEM. You will lead operational security tasks such as vulnerability remediation, user access reviews, and code scan follow-ups.

Help lead the design and development of the Security Platform —the foundation that enables secure and scalable identity governance at Lumos. Build and evolve core security systems that protect customer data, enable enterprise trust, and empower product teams to move fast with confidence. You’ll work across engineering, product, and platform teams to design secure-by-default primitives.

As a Senior Threat Researcher, you will be part of the Threat Research team focused on building and expanding the capabilities of our security platform for our customers to ensure that strong and reliable signal is generated from day 1. You will proactively stay current on trends that are relevant for our customers, and deliver high-quality content for our customers to enable them to identify threats and risks in their environment. You will set up and maintain lab infrastructure in order to replicate attack patterns, ensuring detections are as accurate as possible.

Focus on designing and engineering secure networking solutions to support ServiceNow’s production environments, including U.S. Federal cloud platforms. Work with modern firewall platforms, VPN solutions, and security automation tools to enhance our global network posture. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining internal security tools focused on automating processes such as vulnerability management, IAM, attack surface detection, security assessments, and risk management. Build APIs and microservices using Python (FastAPI or Flask), deployed in cloud environments and K8s.

As a Senior Security Engineer, you will be a leading subject matter expert on the security of modern web applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and corporate environment security. In close collaboration with technical advisors and staff engineers, you will assess the security of new applications, features, partner integrations, data flows, and internal configuration/administration tools. You will also be a technical leader in incident response and vulnerability management.
