The Data Software Engineer Intern role focuses on developing and optimizing the Zero-Emission Fleet Planning Tool, a tool that helps transit agencies, school bus fleets, and truck fleets transition to zero-emission vehicles. The Intern will play a key role in building and enhancing Python-based APIs that power real-time data integration, fleet simulations, and operational analytics.
The intern will contribute to building scalable data solutions that support CALSTART's mission while gaining hands-on experience in cloud-based data engineering and data science. This project will focus on creating a data lake environment, developing automated data pipelines, and designing powerful visualizations to gain insights into clean vehicle adoption, infrastructure planning, and sustainability efforts.
CALSTART is seeking an individual who will execute content updates across multiple websites managed by CALSTART's web team, learning to collaborate with UI/UX designers, front & backend developers, and marketing teams. Before the end of the internship, this candidate will have developed at least one deliverable with the guidance of the web team. Proficiency in front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is needed.

Support CALSTARTβs administration of the Zero Emission School Bus and Infrastructure (ZESBI) incentive projectβa $500 million initiative. Play a key role in the design and execution of the ZESBI incentive program, supporting efforts under the Bus Initiative and Market Acceleration activities, as well as engaging with key external stakeholders. Work with Salesforce team to design and implement the ZESBI incentive processing portal.
CALSTART is seeking a highly motivated Massachusetts-based intern to support programmatic outreach for the Mass Fleet Advisor initiative and other Northeast-focused programs. This position will support the Northeast Regional Office and report directly to the Deputy Director, Northeast Regional Office. This intern will play an important role in supporting outreach initiatives for Massachusetts clean transportation programs, engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders such as transit agencies, truck fleets, community-based organizations, workforce development associations, and colleges and universities.
