The General Counsel Division at DCWP seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Staff Counsel in the Legal Counsel Unit. The Legal Counsel Unit provides advice to DCWP divisions, provides legal support, advises on license categories, and drafts DCWP contracts and agreements. The Staff Counsel will provide legal advice, assist with implementing new laws, serve as a subject matter expert, address legal issues, draft legal documents, and communicate with external parties.

Sierra Club is seeking an Associate or Staff Attorney to join its national legal team as a litigator for Sierra Club’s Environmental Law Program with a focus on decarbonizing the electrical grid by replacing coal and fracked gas with clean energy and promoting affordable electric service. This position requires analyzing coverage issues and routine claim adjusting functions; drafting coverage letters and evaluating claims; and frequent communication with various parties. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential. This role will handle a variety of liability claims with a focus on moderate exposures.

Draft minor and medium complexity legal documents, such as defense statements, replies, and appeals. Perform daily monitoring of judicial and administrative proceedings and rigorously comply with procedural deadlines. Participate in initial and conciliation hearings. Conduct jurisprudential research to support defense theses. Assist senior lawyers in preparing legal opinions and strategies and keep the case management system updated. Prepare periodic reports.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the use of IP geolocation and behavioral analytics for sanctions compliance.
