• Shape and scale the core of GitLab CI, focusing on maturing this critical area of the product by improving our large, complex Ruby on Rails monolith.
• Optimize high-throughput background processing, reduce technical debt, and evolve our architecture so GitLab CI remains a best-in-class solution.
• Partner closely with other Verify teams, Product, and Infrastructure to design and deliver new capabilities, while ensuring existing features stay fast, secure, and dependable.

• Contribute across the stack to build and refine multi-platform editor extensions.
• Design, implement, and maintain TypeScript and Node.js services that power our GitLab Duo CLI.
• Develop and enhance our JetBrains IDE plugin, working with the IntelliJ Platform SDK and Kotlin.

Solve complex technical problems by designing and writing code. Continue learning - this role spans a broad tech stack and fast-moving domain. Participate in planning by identifying complexities, estimating, planning work, sharing status and raising flags.

This Backend Engineer position for our Verify: CI Functions Platform team is 100% remote. As a Backend Engineer in our Verify: CI Functions Platform team, you'll play a key role on a team whose mission is to re-architect GitLab Runner to support ultra-scale CI/CD operations and build the foundational platform for CI Functions.
