Examines and makes recommendations for improvement to a licensee’s practice regarding practice management, the licensee’s knowledge, skill and judgment, attention to the interests of clients, and the records, systems and procedures of the licensee’s professional business. The role requires an LLB or JD and a class L1 licence with the Law Society of Ontario, and a minimum of 5 years related experience in private legal practice.

Working remotely, you will provide legal counsel for our commercial real estate services business lines across the U.S., focusing on brokerage services; responsible for contract negotiation, review and drafting, risk management and general legal advice; you will develop positive and collaborative relationships with employees across the organization.

The Trial Attorney, Staff Counsel will defend Wawanesa customers in low-to-moderate complexity and/or risk bodily injury and property damage liability lawsuits. With minimal supervision, completes all tasks necessary to prepare lawsuits against Wawanesa insureds for mediation, pre-trial, trial and post-trial resolution. Prepares pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions and handles duty necessary for the proper representation.

The Compliance Specialist supports the ongoing development and maintenance of regulatory operations for TerrAscend Corp. and its operating markets. Responsibilities include conducting regulatory compliance audits, supporting SOP development, aiding in documentation submittal, and maintaining knowledge of regulatory processes.

Manages and performs monitoring and testing as required by compliance policies and procedures, including email/texting surveillance and OFAC/AML reviews. Assists with regulatory filings, staff training, and the firm's vendor management program. Proactively identifies new technologies to improve the company’s compliance program.

Review communications intended to be distributed to members of the public to ensure they are consistent with SEC regulations, firm policies and procedures, and best practices, partner with marketing and growth teams to provide compliance guidance and ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Assist with the maintenance of and updates to compliance policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes.

You’ll review and verify payroll records, benefit statements, and apprenticeship paperwork to determine compliance and ensure timely submission of required documents. Support the investigation of noncompliance complaints and evaluate contractor information. You'll also provide monthly reports and maintain organized records, working independently and continuously learning at a fast pace.

Assist Senior Corporate Counsel with legal research, analysis and document review, prepare memoranda, position statements, contracts and agreements, including master services, licensing, professional services and vendor agreements, and special projects as assigned. Second Year student and above, or recent grad with sound legal research knowledge required.
