The Clinical Research Services Office (CRSO) functions as a central service office, overseeing industry-sponsored research contracting, clinical research billing compliance, OHSU's clinical trials management system, and federal reporting compliance. The CRSO also helps to set some of the standards and policies for the conduct of clinical research at OHSU, engages clinical research staff in community building, training, and education, and partners with other OHSU departments and teams via the Clinical Research United (CRU) initiative.

  • Perform independent, accurate, and timely review and analysis of research billing inquiries to resolve, provide guidance, or triage to appropriate staff for resolution.
  • Develop and implement education and communication outreach activities that will provide and document accurate and continuous research billing education programs for the OHSU community.
  • Collaborate with Epic Research Revenue Cycle and CTMS Support to provide input, evaluate, and test clinical research billing functionality in Epic and the CTMS.

  • Assist in reviewing new study creation, activation and post-activation processes for clinical research studies submitted to the CTMS.
  • Enter financial study information in the CTMS per study contract and/or finalized study budget.
  • Detailed review of new study creation and proposed changes, identify problematic areas and communicate directly with internal and external personnel.

  • Independently manage, analyze, draft, negotiate and execute complex sponsored project agreements funded by industry partners.
  • Provide superior customer service to internal and external contacts and subject matter expertise to the entire Institution.
  • Provide leadership and training on internal processes and procedures to departmental staff and stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement a system for tracking all department related compensation plans, benchmarks, targets, and salary/pay tables.
  • Translate written documentation into discrete data points for tracking and reporting.
  • Provide routine reporting related to compliance with compensation principles and take steps to investigate discrepancies.

  • Design, develop, and optimize ETL pipelines using Epic Caboodle Console, SQL Server SSIS, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks , Azure Data Lake Storage , and Azure Data Factory.
  • Build and maintain star-schema data structures including facts, dimensions, SCDs, aggregates, and bridge tables.
  • Develop user-facing BI assets, including Power BI data models, dashboards, and semantic layers.

  • Review incoming referral orders to assess patient’s needs based on diagnosis, insurance coverage or lack thereof, and previous treatments.
  • Verify patient information including demographics, insurance coverage and financial status; confirm patient eligibility for health care coverage and clarify any managed care arrangements.
  • Contact the patient prior to service to inform them of their estimate and collect any pre-payments at that time.
