We are looking for a motivated Senior Software Engineer I (Backend) to be part of the User team in Canada, responsible for supporting Authentication & Authorization within the SurveyMonkey product and providing backend services for managing user accounts and teams. We need a talented engineer with a passion for service ownership, AuthN + AuthZ, ensuring our user’s account state is maintained.

The Staff Developer will be responsible for the ongoing migration of 1Password’s backend authentication service from monolith to a stand alone service, helping to mentor senior and intermediate developers, as well as shaping the overall architecture and future of 1Password’s authentication services. The role requires deep technical expertise in distributed systems and the ability to collaborate closely with multiple internal engineering teams.

As an experienced software developer, you will work as part of a small to medium-sized team, participating in planning, designing, and shipping small-to-medium scale applications. You will employ best practices in development, security, accessibility, and design to achieve the highest quality of service for our customers.

This is a hands-on, product-focused role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of secure software engineering and product innovation. The Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer will design full-stack solutions, think strategically about risk and performance, and leverage AI development tools (Cursor, Devin, GitHub Copilot) to maximize velocity and quality.
