As a software engineer at Canonical, contribute to the success of Ubuntu, our partners, customers, and the larger Ubuntu community. As part of Cloud Engineering, you’ll be building modeling software to drive systems with a focus on distributed storage and Ceph. Engineer solutions to scale in production and work with field teams.

Design and deliver web-based systems and SAAS to provide new insights into the Canonical workplace experience. Enable new processes and improve existing workflows, while collaborating proactively with a distributed team. Write high-quality code to create new features and debug issues. Consistently provide high-quality code reviews and mentoring to more junior engineers.

You will help shape the future of developer tools while working in a fully remote, globally distributed environment building and enhancing AI-powered features for GitLab platform using TypeScript & Ruby. Collaborate with product and cross-functional engineering teams contributing to both frontend and backend development of our core product, participating in code reviews and technical discussions to ensure high-quality solutions.

Design, implement, and document system level Go code, model data, design database schema and implement data storage in a dqlite (SQL) database. Maintain code quality through static analysis, unit and system tests, collaborate proactively with a distributed team. Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 weeks/year for internal and external events.
