Supports the External Affairs division by examining western legislative and regulatory proceedings and conducting outreach to the ISO’s state partners across the West to meet the strategic goals of the organization. This internship is designed to provide interns with the opportunity to learn about public interest work, explore personal research opportunities, and engage in policy advocacy and public writing for issues on reproductive freedom. The intern may also receive assignments on emerging needs, such as transgender justice and disability rights. Responsibilities include conducting research, preparing advocacy materials, attending meetings, monitoring legal and legislative developments, and legal research and writing projects.

The intern will work on legal and policy research and writing-related projects centered on immigrants’ rights, assisting with researching and analyzing legislation, elected officials, and relevant developments in the political and advocacy landscapes on the federal and state levels. They will help prepare advocacy and public education materials, correspondence, and reports as needed and support team's efforts to do congressional outreach through the form of briefings, meetings on Capitol Hill, and letters.
